Board Chair's Message

FRANCES l bROWNE, board chairperson

Dear Coalition members:

There is an old adage that reminds us it is important to know where we have been in order for us to know where we are heading.  There is much truth to this statement as it relates to the work our coalition is doing in Guilford County.

In January 2008 we spearheaded an effort to invite area agencies and community leaders to meet and openly discuss important issues facing the needs of our citizens.  We invited Christopher Dooley to facilitate the roundtable discussion and 81 people were present.  We developed a list of gaps in services as well as needs in the community.  Our coalition is mindful that there is much work to be accomplished and we are committed to serving and meeting the needs of the citizens in Guilford County.

We have made progress over the past six years.  We also realize that there is much work yet to be realized and accomplished.  We are committed to solving our county's substance abuse treatment and prevention issues. We seek to bring people together with common goals and efforts to help people who suffer from the effects of drug use and abuse.

We welcome you to join our journey.

Frances L. Browne, Board Chairperson
